Fashion Week Nail Trends I'm Looking Forward To

This past season, I led three shows with Essie: celeb- and red carpet fave Michael Costello, flirty Tanya Taylor, and the legendary Oscar de La Renta. All three shows even had a common thread this season: they each had two different, yet cohesive, nail looks that were split amongst the models. Metallics and warm nudes stole the show, with elegant and ladylike nail art to top it off.

MICHAEL COSTELLO

First of all, Michael is hilarious and you must follow his Insta rn (@michaelcostello). I loved him right away and we decided on two nail art looks - one for his dreamy and ethereal new bridal collection, and one for his exquisite evening and red carpet collection. Every gown was straight out of my dreams: girly, fluffy and all shades of blush pink and tones of white. Swoon!

For the Bridal nail, Michael sketched a rose in my sketch book and I then replicated it in polish on both index fingers. I used Essie “Topless and Barefoot” as the perfect "pinkened nude", and the rose was drawn with metallic copper “Penny Talk”. If you haven’t tried nude and copper together yet, its a MUST!

For Couture, I used Penny Talk, Buy me a Cameo, and Imported Bubbly in an ombre from finger to finger for a subtle and conversation-starting simple look.

TANYA TAYLOR

For the Tanya Taylor show, her inspiration for the nails was the art installation what would be the backdrop for the presentation. How fun! The 2 looks were tonal and bold that replicated the way the fabric continued throughout the artwork.

Here's me with the models just after we did final touch ups. So many photographers!

Colors used: Allure, Between the Seats and Blanc for the tonal nail, and Allure, Between the Seats, and Fifth Avenue for the bold look.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA

For Oscar de la Renta, the stylist, designers and I chose two metallics (Penny Talk and Good as Gold) for the models’ hands - coppery Penny Talk on warm complexions, and champagne Good as Gold for cooler complexions. On toes, we chose from 6 full-coverage Essie nude shades to match the skin so that feet appeared totally seamless in the shoes that were crystal-clear.

Which look is your favorite? Tell me in the comments!
